The problem


Our client, a DOT compliance software company, needed more monthly software subscribers. At the outset our engagement, we were provided with a very large contact list of all DOT-registered companies. As we dove into the discovery process to better understand our client's audience, our client brought to our attention a public database that houses information on DOT-registered companies, such as the number of accidents, DOT inspections, DOT audits, and more that a company incurred in the past 24 months. We saw this data as an opportunity to target the companies struggling most with their compliance programs, and as an opportunity to create highly-personalized emails. The only challenge was the size of the list and the time it would take to manually search and enter this data.

Our solution

Determined to make use of this golden data, we enlisted a software engineer to develop a program that would automatically search in the database for the companies on our contact list, and extract the relevant pieces of data from it. It would then placed that data into our original contact list, so that we could integrate it into our campaign copywriting. What would have taken weeks, if not months to do manually, only took a couple of days to do with this program. This level of personalization made prospects feel like we were reaching out with a helping hand, rather than just trying to make another sale. The results of the campaign were astounding, which we credit to the help of the custom software program.
